First plan that we recieved: technical space at the edge

Variant aproved: technical space in the middle to access all rooms + isolate sound

The experience as a sequence of rooms: exterior, queues, pre-show, show, exterior

Diferenciation of spaces to create experience: each space is different to the others to reinforce each of the characters. The addition makes the experience. Queues: black box, no input. decompresion room Pre-show: rocky material in walls and ceiling. mineral room Show: a second shaped-skin is created with camouflage textile. vegetal room

The queues is a black box with light only form top. This light changes to create the only input, plus the low sound of the other rooms creates the atmosphere and the rush to enter. In this room the security issues are explained

Pre-show came already as a txt room. Fisitor feels sourrounded by only one material: txt in a rocky texture, even the video is projected on a bigger "rock" of the texture. In this room attraction starts

Show is created by a tent-like shape on camouflage textile. This tent re-creates the video trace providing more comfortable spaces. The tent also hides all the technical issues, including the light that on running through creates shadows on the floor. In this room the 4d cinema happens

Sub experience 1: queues.

Sub experience 2: pre-show

Sub experience 3: show

Sequence of rooms: exterior, queues, pre-show, show, exterior

The sequence of experiences creates the attraction.

We did everything in a record time of 3 months from comision till opening and 2 months of construction (photo of starting construction).

Aprox. the same photo 2 months later.

Queue space finally took the stars ceiling: a black space as decompresion chamber to enter a new experience.

Pre-show space is a mineral space (allready in comision). Finally the construction stress didn'l allow for our desired image (maybe next time!).

In the show the plants where replaced by a camouflage fabric, making it more abstract but keeping the values.

Grop (constructin company) added much more light than expected and we have to say it was a big improvement.
An example of the shadows created here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6QEwhkqnx8

At the beggining of the show the color lights are of and a white light through the fabric makes a helicopter effect.
You can see it here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsJ_UOP2MTM

This is more or less the space as nobody precieves it (with the light on)

Another image to help understanding the "tent" that converts the space from an industrial shed to a projection room.

This is the outside of the attraction. You can see it's basically an industrial shed.

The sourroundings allready call for the attraction.

We don't have a clue who did designed the logo.

The team after the effort: Santiado de León (RdL http://www.rdlarquitectos.com/), Miquel del Río (RaichdelRio, estudi d'arquitectura), Enric Iturbe (JTA), Lluís Raich (RaichdelRio, estudi d'arquitectura).

The team in the first shooting with people. If we had known maybe would'nt had step in! Miquel del Río, Santiago de León, Enric Iturbe and Lluís Raich.

Last week we went to see the Dinopolis construction-site.

Working with the constructing company has some disadvantages and some parts of the project will be changed (it's part of the deal!), but I think the defining elements will stay there... let's wait to see how it ends!

The project keeps going. Some minor changes are done to fine tune the plan but it keeps going fullspeed!
We went last week to meet the constructing company + checking the state of the works.

They are digging now the hole for the moving seats.

Entrance space is clear, pre-show (mineral) too and now the big question mark is how to give characther to the show space

There are two options:

Keeping the whole space:
-leaves the installations free to manipulate
-keeps the industrial character of the room

Creating a new ceiling
-keeps the installations behind a ceiling
-makes the space more domestic

Whole space options:

Give character with some free shapes that act as illumination.

Leave a band of "black landscape" and painting heraklit with a landscape

new space options:

keeping the plants (preshow - show = mineral - natural)

the new space is a night sky (preshow - show = closed - open space)

What do you think?

Looks like the plants may not happen...

We got a new commision: doing a 3d + movement (4d) cinema in a theme park: Dinopolis.

The building is a prefabricated storage-like building and in one of the corners we have to build the cinema. The requirements are a que room, a pre-show with a projection, a projection room and the technical space.

After some trials we put the technical room inbetween the two spaces to acustically isolate them.

And after checking structural requirements we put the projection against technical room.

We didn't have any clue on what was going to be displayed in the rooms but we had to give them an ambience. We then decided to give them two very strong and different ambiences that didn't suit a content but create a story by themselves.

Pre-show will be a hard-mineral space and show will be a soft-vegetal space.

Of course everything will be "theme park" and artificial.

Que-room is a one-color box where only light from top and down creates the ambience (creates distance with the rest of the theme park and makes you want to enter)

Pre-show is a cave-like space that takes advantage of the double space in one of the sides.

Show is a vegetal space up until 2.20m and then a pladur space. Acustical and technical requirements are behind the fake-vegetal courtain, as long as air-conditioning and light. We expect AC to move the vegetation and create some nice shadow effects with the light behind.

We'll keep you informed!!!
